However, it was stated on the home page that Beard Farmer’s products are “hand bottled, measured and made in the USA.” We also know that the business is based in Michigan. The company claims to be committed to “giving back” and has a long list of charities which it has contributed to. The Beard Growther beard vitamin is not widely available in stores. It must be purchased online and is available directly from the Beard Farmer website. It is also available through some independent sellers online and on Amazon.com. The Beard Farmer website was aesthetically attractive and simple to navigate.

Beard Growther beard vitamin has quite an extensive list of nutrients in comparison to many of its competitors: a total of 27. (Similar competitors’ products tend to contain between ten and twenty nutrients.) In fact, this product could be taken as a general men’s nutritional supplement, whether you have or want a beard or not. The list includes vitamins A, C, D and E plus several B-complex vitamins. It even contains biotin (vitamin B7, also known as vitamin H), a nutrient that is associated with healthy hair and nails and isn’t necessarily found in a general vitamin supplement. It also contains several other nutrients more typically found in a men’s vitamin rather than a hair growth formula, such as zinc, magnesium, selenium, iron, phosphorus and iodine.

We were familiar with choline bitartrate (sometimes referred to simply as “choline”), inositol and PABA. They are commonly included in hair growth supplements because of their association with healthy hair. However, betaine hydrochloride, citrus bioflavonoids, RNA and rutin are not routine inclusions in most hair growth formulas, so we decided to take a closer look at them.
Betaine hydrochloride is found in certain grains and is used to increase the production of stomach acid. This may help improve digestion, especially in people whose bodies do not produce enough acid naturally.
Betaine hydrochloride is somewhat controversial. It used to be included in over-the-counter products typically used to treat heartburn. However, it was banned in OTC medications in the 1990s for lack of evidence that betaine hydrochloride is “safe and effective.” However, it is allowed to be included in nutritional supplements, although we aren’t sure why it would be included in one designed to grow hair. We can only surmise that it may have been added as a means of helping the body to better digest the other nutrients in Beard Growther Beard Hair Formula. But we aren’t doctors, so it’s only a guess.
Citrus bioflavonoids and rutin both come from plants and are known for their antioxidant properties. Antioxidants help neutralize free radicals, which otherwise do all kinds of unpleasant things to your body, like cause it to age faster. While there is no direct scientific connection between these two substances and hair growth, they may be helping in an indirect way. They help to maintain collagen (which can be found in hair follicles) and they protect the cells of blood vessels, like the ones that feed your hair follicles.
You might remember RNA from high school biology. It is naturally present in the body and is the helper of DNA in the synthesizing of proteins. An RNA supplement, then, may in theory help to synthesize proteins in the hair. However, there is no direct scientific link between RNA supplements and hair growth.

We love the fact that this hair growth supplement is on the lower end of the price range in comparison to competing products, and also that it contains a larger variety of nutrients. We also like the idea of free shipping.
However, we would be remiss if we didn’t suggest checking with a doctor before taking this supplement, especially if you have any health problems or concerns. We think the inclusion of ingredients like betaine hydrochloride warrants some research before consumption, especially since you won’t be able to return the product for a refund once you’ve opened the bottle.
Finally, shop around before buying. It’s possible that you can find this product for even less than the manufacturer’s website price of $22.99 from independent sellers. You might as well pay less if you can.

If it’s “revolutionary face care” that you’re seeking, Beard Grow XL beard vitamin is a nutritional supplement that was designed to meet that need using only all-natural ingredients. It specifically aims to help with the problems sparseness and patchiness in the beard as well as the mustache, and to help it grow faster.
Unfortunately, Beard Grow XL beard vitamin has a limited web profile. The product itself is not widely available in stores. The only way to get a hold of it is online, either from the Beard Grow XL website or on Amazon.com.
The website has a minimalist in design, but contemporary and tasteful. It wasn’t difficult to navigate the site. At the time this review was conducted, the company only had two products: Beard Fuel XL Serum and Beard Fuel XL beard vitamin supplement. The serum is for external use, the beard vitamin is for internal use. The idea is that by using the two products together, you double your chances of growing a healthy, full beard.
We were a little bothered by the fact that there is very little background information on the product’s maker, Delta Genesis, either on its own website or elsewhere online. Although it claims to distribute products in at least 16 countries, there is no reference to where the company’s headquarters are actually located, or if the company is even a US-based company. However, buried on the website’s FAQ page we did find a statement saying that all of the company’s products are manufactured in the USA.
The product comes in a bottle containing 90 capsules. A daily serving constitutes three capsules. The product is listed on BeardGrowXL website at $59.99, which is supposedly a discount from the regular retail price of $79.00. At the regular retail price of $59.99, a daily dose costs approximately 66 cents, or 22 cents per pill.
What It’s Made Of
Next, we looked into the ingredients that go into this supplement. Unfortunately, and curiously, the company’s website does not list the ingredients in this product anywhere on its website. Not only that, but of all of the independent sellers of the Beard Grow XL beard vitamin we found, not a single one of them listed its ingredients, either. We found this very disappointing. Why wouldn’t a company provide a list of ingredients up front for one of their products?
It seems perfectly fair to want to know what is in a product. Most modern consumers are quite savvy and educated and demand to know what is in a product that is intended for human consumption. Not only is it wise to know if a product’s components are quality ingredients, there are many other concerns a consumer might have, such as possible allergens, or if the product is vegetarian/vegan friendly or gluten-free. By not posting the ingredients of Beard Grow XL online, a significant number of consumers may already be turned off of the product.
In the end, we had to email the company directly to get the list of ingredients. In total, the list included 17 active ingredients and four non-active ingredients, which likely make up the capsule coating. The first 11 ingredients were mainly the same standard nutrients you would find in a typical over-the-counter vitamin supplement: vitamins A, C, D, E and several B-complex vitamins. It also contains biotin, a B-complex vitamin (B⁷, also known as “vitamin H”) that is not necessarily a nutritional supplement standard. It is associated with healthy hair and nails so its inclusion makes sense. The last six ingredients make up a proprietary formula (650 mg worth). They are methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), saw palmetto, horsetail extract, choline, inositol and PABA.
MSM is a common ingredient in hair loss supplements. MSM, has not been scientifically linked to hair growth, but MSM boosts collagen production in the body. Collagen is a necessary factor in healthy skin, and healthy skin promotes healthy hair follicles. Additionally, MSM is a sulfur, and there is sulfur in keratin. Keratin is the main protein in hair.
Saw palmetto and horsetail extract both come from plants, and though not proven in a lab yet, have long been associated with healthy hair and hair growth. Choline (also sometimes known as choline bitartrate) is associated with brain health, but it is also an essential component in healthy new body tissues (including hair). Inositol and PABA are also widely associated with hair growth and can be found in many hair growth nutritional supplements.
As far as non-active ingredients, the inclusion of gelatin renders Beard Grow XL not vegetarian/vegan friendly. There are also a couple of other questionable ingredients, particularly magnesium stearate, which is added solely for the convenience of the manufacturer. It has no nutritional value whatsoever, and some have speculated about whether it many be unhealthy (although in small amounts it has been deemed as safe and acceptable by the FDA.)

This product has received an overwhelmingly-positive response. Many were pleased with what they felt was successful growth and better coverage of bare and patchy spots in their beards. Some felt that while the product didn’t seem to make their beards grow faster, thicker or better, they noticed a difference in the softness and shine of their beards.

The lack of pertinent information was a turnoff for us, and had the company not responded so quickly to our email inquiry for a list of ingredients, we would probably have written this product off. However, getting that list and getting attentive customer service too warmed us to Delta Genesis and Beard Grow XL… somewhat.
Generally speaking, we think this product is worth a try, as long as you don’t expect miracles or overnight results. Give it at least a month (one full bottle) before judging results. That being said, do some research on other products before buying this one. There are other beard growth formulas out there that contain the same or nearly all the same ingredients and cost less than Beard Grow XL. Make sure that you aren’t overpaying for the same formula. If you do decide to buy this product, comparison shop first. Google Shopping is a great way to do this. The price of this product was all over the map, and we think it would be ridiculous to pay the $59.99 retail price on the Delta Genesis website if you can find it for less than that somewhere else.

The company touts its products as being made with “the finest organic/natural ingredients on the market.” The company has an entire line of Wild Willie’s beard grooming products in addition to its Bad Ass beard vitamin supplement. It claims that all of its products are “hand made,” although it doesn’t define “hand made” in its marketing materials. (We find the image of a guy painstakingly stirring a giant vat of mustache wax and then pouring it into tiny little tins all by himself without the help of a single machine comical, but we’ll give Manskape the benefit of the doubt on the hand-made issue. Happy stirring.)
The company states right on its Bad Ass Beard Growth web page: “if you can’t grow facial hair then this isn’t going to work like some magic beans and help you suddenly start to growing a beard.” We found this kind of candid honesty refreshing. The statement went on: “I wish it could work like that, but unfortunately we can’t change genetics. With that said, if you do struggle to grow facial hair, then it doesn’t mean that this won’t help. Everyone’s genetics are different and this could be the boost you need.” It’s true: no topical or internal formula can make your body grow new hair where no hair follicles previously existed. What it CAN do is stimulate existing follicles in a variety of ways to be more productive. We give Wild Willie’s extra kudos for being up front about that.

Wild Willie’s advertises its Bad Ass beard vitamin supplement as being an “advanced formula.” Since there isn’t a legal or medical definition for “advanced” on a product label, we decided to look closely at the ingredients to see if they live up to what a consumer would think of as being “advanced.” Wild Willie’s Bad Ass Beard Growth contains a proprietary formula (called Biositol Complex 1) made of active ingredients which includes choline bitartrate, methosulfonylmethane (MSM) and inositol, along with a long list of other nutrients.
The names of those ingredients sounded a little intimidating, so we did some research. As it turns out, choline bitartrate is a brain health supplement. Okay, who doesn’t want a better brain? But by itself, this nutrient doesn’t do much for hair. However, combined with inositol (a mood-boosting b-complex vitamin that also promotes hair growth), it may promote growth in sluggish hair follicles. (If not, at least you’ll be a little bit smarter after using it.) The second ingredient, MSM, has not been scientifically linked to hair growth. According to the label on one side of the container, adults are instructed to “take one serving once per day, preferably with a meal.” So I initially thought that 60 tablets would last for 60 days. However, turn the bottle over, and you see on the nutritional label that one serving is two tablets, so one bottle only lasts 30 days. This made its price of $35.00 per bottle seem a lot more expensive. However, compared to competing products, the price of Bad Ass Beard Growth is pretty average, and there are many other hair growth supplements that are even more expensive.

Next, we decided to see what other users had to say about their experiences with the product. User reviews on the pages of independent sellers of Bad Ass Beard Growth varied widely. Some users thought it made their beards grow faster, look fuller and filled in patchy spots. A similar number of users felt that the product did nothing at all for their beards. However, a significant majority indicated that they felt that the product may not necessarily have helped them grow a beard faster or made their beards thicker, but did notice an improvement in overall beard health. There is no harm in trying Smooth Viking Hair and Beard Vitamin and, judging by comments provided by Amazon.com users, there is a strong chance that you will experience some kind of improvement in your beard growth. Some users saw results quickly, but you should at least get through one whole bottle of the supplement before passing judgment one way or the other. Even if it doesn’t do anything for your hair (beard or head), the nutrients are still good for you. 9. Beard Czar – Facial Hair Complex
Overview
A luscious, enviable beard can only get so much nurture from the outside. Beard balms are great, but a really healthy beard starts below the surface of the skin: at the follicles. Beard Czar, a company that markets itself as a proponent of the bearded lifestyle (not just beard aesthetics), has designed an exclusive nutritional supplement formula which, they believe, is the best-suited to stimulating hair growth at the follicles. Not only that, but it will help maintain your beard and keep it looking healthy.
One of the first things we look for when we review a particular beard vitamin product, no matter what type it is, is information about the background of the company. Unfortunately, there is very little information available about Beard Czar as a company. The only information we were able to obtain was the fact that the brand is headquartered in Phoenix, AZ. A lack of info doesn’t mean the product isn’t a quality one. All it really means is that perhaps the company hasn’t been around long, and/or you won’t be able to draw a conclusion about the potential of this product based on reputation.
Beard Czar manufactures not just a Facial Hair Complex supplement, but has a full line of beard grooming products. This includes beard oil, a beard comb, a beard-grooming ebook and Phytoceramides, another nutritional supplement.
One of the first things we noticed about Beard Czar beard vitamin was its price. This brand is by far one of the most expensive beard-care supplements on the market. Frankly, we were a little shocked by its $89.95 dollar price tag, when the average price for competing brands is around thirty dollars.
We thought perhaps the price was so high because there were 500 tablets in the bottle (as opposed to competing brands, which usually contain 30-90 tablets per bottle). As it turned out, the bottle only comes with 30 tablets, a thirty-days supply. (This translates to almost three dollars per pill/daily dose, three times more expensive than the average competitor’s brand.)
So maybe, we thought, there were 14 karat gold flakes mixed in with all the vitamins?? Nope. Not only did it contain no gold, it didn’t contain as many nutrients as most of its competitor’s formulas, although it did contain a few that were unique from its competition. The formula has the typical vitamins you would find in an everyday, over-the-counter supplement: vitamins A, C, E and a few B-complex vitamins. However, it did not contain biotin, or vitamin B⁷, which is a standard inclusion in beard growth formulas, since it is widely associated with healthy hair. However, this certainly doesn’t mean that Beard Czar beard vitamin isn’t effective.
The beard vitamin also contains a “hair, skin and nails daily complex,” which may be a proprietary formula, although it doesn’t specifically state this on the ingredients label. Perhaps we thought, this is where the fancy, expensive ingredients are. They are listed as wheat germ powder, horsetail powder, coleus forskohlii extract, caralluma powder, garcinia cambogia and green coffee bean extract.
Horsetail powder is a common ingredient in many beard and hair growth formulas and is a relatively inexpensive substance. It is included due to its association with hair growth and hair health. Wheat germ powder is less common in beard growth supplements, but our research indicates that wheat germ is high in vitamins E and a few B-complex ones, which can contribute to healthy hair.
Caralluma powder was an interesting and somewhat unfamiliar ingredient to us. It is not commonly included in hair growth supplements. In fact, it is rare to see it on a hair growth supplement ingredient label. It is more commonly found in weight loss and appetite suppressant formulas because it is known for its reported ability to stave off hunger (thus preventing over-eating). Not only is it not associated widely with hair health, there are actually a few reports of caralluma (derived from a succulent plant found in Africa and the Mediterranean) as being associated with hair loss.
Garcinia cambogia was another puzzling addition to this product. Garcinia cambogia comes from a fruit found in parts of Africa and Asia. Like caralluma, it is far more associated with weight loss than hair growth (and even its effectiveness as a weight loss aid is controversial in the scientific community). We could find very scant information on its effectiveness on the growth of hair, beard or otherwise.
Still another ingredient in this beard vitamin that was unusual to us was coleus forskohlii extract. Again, we had to do some digging because this is not a common addition to beard growth supplements. It is more often found in weight loss products because, like the previous two ingredients, it is most associated with weight loss and management (though again, its effectiveness even for this is questioned by the scientific community).
Finally, green coffee bean extract was an ingredient we actually recognized, although we weren’t sure about its connection to beard and hair health. It is rarely included in hair growth supplements. As it turns out, green coffee bean extract is known most widely for its antioxidant properties as well as its association with weight loss. However, we were able to find some evidence (mostly anecdotal) that it may aid in healthy hair growth and maintenance. Then again, we also found a few reports (again, anecdotal) that some users experienced hair loss after using green coffee bean extract. We couldn’t find any scientific studies of the effects of green coffee bean on hair growth.
The Beard Czar beard vitamin is not widely sold anywhere, either in stores or online, except directly through the Beard Czar website. If you want to try the product, this is the only place to purchase it. Shipping costs $9.95. The company offers a free 10-day trial of the product as long as you pay $4.95 for shipping (a discount of five dollars off the regular shipping price). The catch is that you must provide a credit card number, and you will be automatically charged $89.99 after 14 days. You will also be automatically enrolled in Beard Czar’s auto-shipping program, which sends out a new bottle of 30 tablets every month. The only way to opt out of either paying full price after the trial period or having the product auto-shipped to you is to manually withdraw from the program before 14 days. As far as we can tell, you can still keep the remainder of your trial bottle if you opt out of the program within the 10-day trial period.
The website itself appeared to be well-designed. It was aesthetically appealing and simple to navigate. We were curious as to the company’s return policy beyond the initial ten-day trial period. It took a little bit of work to locate it, but we finally found it buried deeply within the “terms and conditions” section. To sum it up, you are only entitled to a refund within the first 30 days after receiving your order. You are only entitled to a full refund on unused, unopened bottles. Refunds on partially-used bottles of product are discretionary and the amount is arbitrary. In other words, don’t count on a refund if you’ve already opened the bottle.
How It Works
Use of this beard vitamin is simple. The label instructs users to take one capsule per day. The ingredients in the supplement, according to the product’s web page, “may offer dermal nourishment; may support hydration; may support beard growth; may improve hair quality.”
Customer Feedback
Strangely, it was extremely difficult to find reviews about this product written by actual users. There was one video testimonial on the Beard Czar website itself and no printed ones. We couldn’t find a single Google Review on Beard Czar Facial beard vitamin or any other Beard Czar products for that matter. There were a number of reviews that were basically summaries of the product in other places on the web, but actual customer testimonials were scarce. You’ll have to draw your own conclusions about that.

Conclusion
We have quite a few problems with this product. You’re more likely to lose weight with the Beard Czar beard vitamin than you are to grow a beard. In fact, we can’t think of any reason why this product is being marketed as a hair growth supplement rather than a weight loss aid, unless maybe losing weight will make your beard look bigger.
That being said, we don’t feel that there is anything in this product that is harmful. In fact, the nutrients in this formula probably will benefit your body in a number of ways. We just aren’t sure that growing a better beard is one such benefit, and since it is not being marketed as a weight loss supplement, there’s no reason to really expect it to help you lose weight, either.
Overall, we think this product is probably not worth its $89.99 price tag. There are many good beard growth supplements on the market with ingredients that are actually associated with hair growth, such as biotin and inositol, and which cost much, much less. Even if you were specifically looking to supplement your diet with the nutrients in Beard Czar beard vitamin, it’s possible to purchase all of those nutrients in separate supplements and still pay less than the price of one bottle of this stuff. This is a bewildering product, to say the least.
How Our BGW Ratings Are Calculated
Each product that is reviewed by us is actually tested by us as well. We have product testers that test the products we review. Our rating system is based on a 1 to 5 BEARD scale. 1 being the worst and 5 being the best possible rating.

Two, after careful research, we determine whether the beard vitamin is easy to use. If a product is hard to use, men won’t use it so we look for a beard vitamin that men will use on a daily basis.
Three, our staff looks at each beard vitamin and its overall review profile on the web. We look at Amazon and any other websites where the product is sold. We also use tools to detect “low quality” reviews which are reviews that seem to lack real authenticity. Fake reviews are becoming more common on the web especially on Amazon so we look at the overall review profile and combine this with all other factors to get our overall BGW Rating.
